Opened on 9 August 1866, one of the oldest zoos in the world, and an Art Nouveau showcase: many of its 36 buildings are listed, from the Zsolnay-tiled Elephant House to the Owl House and the Great Rock. Queen Elisabeth (Sisi) gave her own giraffe from Schönbrunn in 1868.
