Opened in 1922 as Budapest's largest cinema, the Corvin stands in Corvin köz, a national memorial site and one of the main fighting places of the 1956 revolution, when the building was hit and burned. Rebuilt in 1957 as the city's first wide-screen cinema, it now mixes art films and new releases.
