Founded in 1391 by an Armenian merchant from Kaffa, it is described as the oldest extant Armenian Apostolic church in Istanbul. Demolished in 1958 and rebuilt in the 1960s, it is the city's only church in traditional Armenian style, with a conical-roofed dome.
