A ruined Byzantine castle on a bluff above the meeting of the Bosphorus and the Black Sea, fought over by Byzantines, Genoese and Ottomans; a chain could once be stretched from here across the strait. The site was the ancient Hieron, with temples to Zeus Ourios and the Twelve Gods.
