Queen Maria I's vow church: she promised a convent to the Heart of Jesus if she bore a son, and the late 18th-century basilica, the first in the world with that dedication, holds her tomb under a white dome that marks the western skyline, with coloured marble and paintings by Pompeo Batoni inside.
