Revived by the city's requalification of the area, the Intendente square and now gathers cafés, bars such as Casa Independente and the A Vida Portuguesa shop. Its jewel is the former Viúva Lamego ceramics factory at nos. 23-27 (1849-1865), its whole façade covered in 19th-century figurative azulejos by Luís Ferreira, 'Ferreira das Tabuletas'.
