Alfred Goddard opened in Deptford in 1890 and the family later moved to King William Walk by Greenwich Market; still owned by the Goddards, it makes bigger, meatier pies than most and real-vinegar chilli vinegar.

Good to know
- Pie, mash and liquor, and the handmade bread and butter pudding (Culture Calling).
- Purists note that it also offers gravy instead of liquor and nine kinds of pie; it is busy with visitors next to Greenwich Market.
- Eat it the cockney way: fork and spoon, never a knife; flip the pie, cut the bottom open and shake in chilli vinegar, then salt and white pepper (James Dimitri, 2025).
