Monaco is walkable end to end in about an hour, but it is built on steep slopes, so locals mix walking with CAM city buses, public lifts and escalators. CAM runs six day lines (1-6), night lines N1 and N2, a solar-electric Bateau-Bus across Port Hercule and the MonaBike bike share. Monaco-Monte-Carlo railway station, entirely underground, is on the Marseille-Nice-Ventimiglia coast line served mostly by TER regional trains, which is how most visitors and many commuters arrive from Nice and Menton.

- During Grand Prix weeks roads close and bus routes change; walk and use the train.
- Taking the train from Nice avoids the coast-road traffic and Monaco's expensive car parks.
