The last drogheria left on the Ruga dei Spezieri, the Rialto street of the old spice merchants. Opened in 1946 as an 8-square-metre shop selling castagnaccio and fruit, it now stocks about 2,500 items: spices in wooden drawers and copper-lidded jars, pyramids of pepper in the window, teas, jams and serious wines in the back room. Rialto shoppers stop here between the fish stalls and home.

Good to know
- Come in the morning with the Rialto market crowd; it closes for a long lunch and on Wednesday afternoon.
- Spices and teas are sold loose from the old drawers and jars.
- The wine room at the back is a serious enoteca; ask the Mascari brothers for a local bottle.
