Alberto Valese brought marbled paper back to Venice in 1977 after learning Turkish ebru from the masters; his shop on Campo Santo Stefano is now run by Antica Legatoria Ofer, which keeps his patterns and adds Venetian, Japanese and Turkish marbling plus bookbinding on an old cast-iron press. One of the few places where every sheet on sale is made by hand in the city.
