One of the oldest pubs in the city: it began in 1606 as an inn on the IJ waterfront for VOC sailors, and Heineken stepped in to save the old family cafe in 1971. Two minutes from Centraal Station, it is still a busy, authentic brown cafe where, Girls Who notes, the bar staff have stood behind the tap for some 20 years on average.

Good to know
- A good first or last drink by Centraal Station; ask the long-serving barmen for a story.
- Google rating is 4.0 because of the station crowd, but the local press keeps naming it as a surviving classic.
