De Pijp's neighbourhood park around a pond, a few steps from the Albert Cuyp market, named after the 19th-century physician and city reformer Samuel Sarphati, whose monument stands in it. In 1942 the occupiers renamed it because Sarphati was Jewish; the name came back in 1945.
