Josep Fontserè's 19th-century shade house of cast-iron pillars, iron beams and bare brick, turned into a dance hall for the Universal Exhibition and now a silent jungle of hydrangeas, kentia palms, Swiss cheese plants and rubber trees. Locals bring a book; most visitors walk past on Passeig de Picasso.
