The Dongsi shop where Beijing Daoxiangcun reopened its first counter in the 1980s, now a traditional pastry hall with a tea bar. Locals buy Daoxiangcun pastries for themselves and as gifts for relatives; this showcase lets you watch pastries being made through a glass window and try new treats such as the baked beef-tongue cake. The brand was founded in 1895 as Beijing's first southern-style pastry shop, and Lu Xun was a regular.
