The 1553 south-east corner tower of the outer city wall, demolished in the 20th century and rebuilt by Dongcheng District as a public library that opened in 2017. Its three floors hold old-Beijing exhibitions, 7,000 local-history documents and tea-table reading nooks, and it is praised as the "most Beijing" library; neighbours use it, visitors never come this far south-east.
