A 496-metre diagonal lane west of the Dashilar crowds, worn into shape by people walking to the old Jin-dynasty market, where Shen Congwen once lived at No. 61 and wrote Border Town. After a renewal that relocated about 500 households, it is now a favourite Beijing city-walk lane of small shops and cafes; tour groups stay on the main Dashilar strip.
