Built 1892-1893 by Victor Horta for the scientist Emile Tassel, it is considered one of the first Art Nouveau buildings anywhere. Its innovations set the pattern for all of Horta's later town houses, and it is part of the UNESCO Horta listing.

Good to know
- From the street, read the facade: Horta let the iron structure show, a break with the stone and brick fronts around it
- Inside (not visitable) a glass-roofed central hall with mosaic floors and staircases lights the house; the Horta Museum 10 minutes away shows the same ideas
- The Hankar House, built at the same time, is round the corner on Rue Defacqz
