The national museum of Hungarian literature, in the classicist Károlyi Palace where Liszt played, Franz Joseph came to a ball and Prime Minister Lajos Batthyány was arrested over dinner in 1849. The permanent show is on Sándor Petőfi, the 1848 poet whose verse every Hungarian child learns.
