For almost 1,500 years one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Greek Orthodoxy, built around a holy spring with healing reputation; the present church dates from 1835. The tombs of Ecumenical Patriarchs lie outside the church.

- Local Orthodox visit especially on the Friday after Easter and on 14 September.
