The oldest surviving Greek Orthodox school in Istanbul, established in its current form in 1454; its castle-like red brick building of 1881-1883 by Konstantinos Dimadis dominates the Fener skyline. Locals call it the Red Castle, and its dome holds an antique telescope used for astronomy classes.
