The royal shipyard where the naus of the Discoveries were built is now a riverfront lawn with broad stone steps running down into the Tejo, between Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré. The 2009-2014 project by PROAP and Global dug out the 18th-century dry dock and recovered the Caldeirinha dock, crossed by a bridge towards the Terreiro do Paço.
