An octagonal Gothic church by John Shaw (1832) with a sky-blue vaulted ceiling. Its 1671 clock has two giants who strike the bells with clubs on the hour, mentioned by Dickens; it also has a statue of Elizabeth I of about 1586 and figures of King Lud and his sons that once stood on Ludgate.
