After a 1971 brush fire, hiker Amir Dialameh replanted a burnt Griffith Park hillside by hand and tended it for more than 30 years; volunteers still keep the five-acre terraced garden with hilltop picnic benches. It is a rest stop for local hikers and riders, a half-mile uphill walk that few visitors know exists.
