A sunken garden behind the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, finished in 1980 by Takeo Uesugi. Its 170-foot 'clear stream' tells the story of the generations: a rushing fall for the Issei, a split stream for the Nisei, a calm pond for the Sansei. It sits below street level, so most people walking through Little Tokyo never find it.
