Since the 1950s mariachis in full charro suits have waited here to be hired for weddings, birthdays and serenatas, much like Mexico City's Plaza Garibaldi. The carved stone kiosko was a 1998 gift from the State of Jalisco. Angelenos come to book a band; visitors rarely make it east of the river.
