Formerly Laguna Park, the end point of the National Chicano Moratorium march of 29 August 1970, when some 30,000 people protested the Vietnam War death toll among Chicanos and police clashes began. It was renamed for journalist Ruben Salazar, killed that day. Today it is an everyday East LA neighbourhood park on the National Register.
