San Gabriel Mission Playhouse

Culture venueLocals' pick

Built 1923-1927 for John Steven McGroarty's hugely popular Mission Play, with a facade modelled on Mission San Antonio de Padua, tapestries given by King Alfonso XIII of Spain and a restored 1924 Wurlitzer organ. Today it books Cantonese pop shows and community events as much as classic films, a mirror of the San Gabriel Valley.
