A keep built around 970, one of the oldest in France, fought over by the counts of Ventimiglia, Genoa and the Grimaldis: Roquebrune was Monegasque until the mid-19th century. William Ingram gave it to the town in 1921; the village below is a maze of vaulted passages and stairs.
