The outer side of the Port Hercule breakwater is laid out as giant concrete steps with ladders straight into deep open sea. Monaco Life calls it a near-secret spot where hardly anyone comes even in high summer, ideal for a lunchtime swim and sunbathe; visitors on the quay never see it because it faces away from the harbour.
