- Changing of the guard happens daily at 11:55 on Place du Palais; arrive by 11:30 for a front spot.
- The State Apartments close for winter after 15 October; outside the season you can only see the square and the guard.
- Take bus 1 or 2 to the Place de la Visitation stop instead of climbing from the port in the midday heat.
