Princess Grace Rose Garden

Roseraie Princesse Grace

ParkLocal favourite

Prince Rainier III opened this rose garden in 1984 in memory of Princess Grace, who loved roses and founded the Bal de la Rose. After its renovation more than 450 varieties grow on about 5,000 m2 in concentric circles around a fountain, including roses named for the Grimaldi family and for Léo Ferré. It is a Fontvieille neighbourhood garden that most visitors never come down from the Rock to see.

Good to know

  • Fragrant roses are in the inner circles; the Grimaldi family roses are on the west side by the 50 m water wall.
  • The Monaco International New Rose Competition is held here every two years (76 varieties in 2024, the garden's 40th year).
  • Best in May and June; it is Ecocert certified, and hens keep the beds free of weeds.
