Tacacá do Norte

Street foodLocals' pick

A Pará counter in Flamengo since 1973, with owners, cooks and ingredients from the north. Time Out calls its pure açaí with farinha d'água the best in Rio, and it is the place to try açaí the Belém way: unsweetened, with fried fish or dried shrimp.

Good to know

  • Drink the tacacá straight from the wooden cuia; Folha notes that using the spoon is almost a gaffe. Use the little sticks to fish out the shrimp and jambu.
  • For the savoury açaí, add a portion of farinha d'água as the waiters suggest.
  • At the counter, order an unha de caranguejo (crab croquette) and a cupuaçu juice.
