The monumental fountain built in 1612 to mark the end of the Acqua Paola aqueduct restored by Pope Paul V, the first great fountain on the Trastevere side of the Tiber. Romans know it as Il Fontanone, and it is the setting of the opening scene of Sorrentino's 'The Great Beauty'.
