Opened in 1923 as the Carlton Theatre, demolished in the 1990s and reopened in 2018, it now hosts weekly shows of duojiaoxi, Shanghai's comic monologue in local dialect, by the Xiaotiandi troupe, where well-known veteran performers may appear. It is a show made for Shanghainese speakers rather than for tourists.
