The former Columbia Country Club, a social hub for Shanghai's American community, restored with its Spanish-style clubhouse, a blue-tiled pool building and old foreign-style houses in a garden setting. Tsutaya Books fills the old club rooms with fireplaces and red brick. It has become a social-media favourite with young Shanghainese, but it sits well west of the usual visitor circuit.
