Named after the shogunate's rice storehouses that stood here from 1620, Kuramae is still a district of toy wholesalers and workshops, now joined by makers' shops: custom ink and notebooks at Kakimori, design goods at Koncent, bean-to-bar chocolate and a gin distillery. Time Out calls it a craft centre in revival.
