A flower garden opened in the early 19th century by Sahara Kiku-u, when Edo's townsman culture flourished, planted for colour all year. Plum blossoms in February-March, hydrangeas in late June-July and bush clover (hagi) in autumn are the highlights; it is a national Place of Scenic Beauty and Historic Site.
