In 1987 the brothers Stefano and Daniele Attombri bought the last stocks of conterie, tiny Venetian glass beads cut from thin rods, as the old factories closed, and taught themselves to work them with metal into jewellery and lamps in the tradition of the perlere and impiraresse. Their window is under the Rialto arcade, among the market stalls.
