Jacopo Sansovino's library (1537-88) facing the Doge's Palace, which Palladio called perhaps the richest building since antiquity. The monumental rooms are decorated with paintings by Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese and Schiavone, and the library owns Fra Mauro's 15th-century world map and Cardinal Bessarion's 1468 gift of Greek manuscripts.
