Founded in 1913, the last artistic foundry in Venice still casts brass and bronze in sand moulds, some from the 18th century: the little horses that decorate gondolas, door knockers with the lion of St Mark, moors and lamps. Carlo Semenzato started here before he was 18 and took the foundry over. Venetians come for a replacement knocker; visitors walk past it on the way to Tintoretto's church.
