A non-profit association founded in 2012 by Jane Caporal and Nan McElroy, whose women instructors are all competitive Venetian rowers. In a traditional 'batela' you learn voga alla veneta, rowing standing up and facing forward as gondoliers do, through the quiet canals of northern Cannaregio. Rowing clubs are one of the last places where Venetians meet socially; this is the way in for outsiders.
