Saverio Pastor, born in 1958 and trained under the last masters Bepi Carli and Gino Fossetta, carves the forcola, the walnut oarlock a gondolier rows against, plus oars for regatta rowers. Gondoliers and rowing clubs order here; visitors walking between the Salute and the Accademia pass the open door without knowing that only four remeri are left in the world.

Good to know
- Look at the forcole on the walls before asking: each curve (the 'recia', the ear) is a different rowing position, and he will explain them.
- Buy directly from the maker: a small forcola or a carved piece is a real gondola fitting, not a souvenir copy.
- It is a working shop with sawdust and noise; greet him and do not touch the pieces being shaped.
