One of Venice's four great charitable 'ospedali', where orphan girls were trained as musicians. Longhena's wildly sculpted facade fronts a church with some of Giambattista Tiepolo's first known works, Giuseppe Sardi's elliptical staircase (1664-66) and the 18th-century Sala della Musica, frescoed by Jacopo Guarana where the girls' choir performed.
