Murano's 12th-century Veneto-Byzantine basilica, with a golden apse mosaic of the praying Virgin and a 500 m2 marble-and-glass mosaic floor dated September 1141, with peacocks pecking from a golden chalice. Behind the altar hang the 'dragon bones' said to come from the monster slain by St Donatus.
