Monica Daniele, a Venetian painter trained at the Academy, has sewn the tabarro since 1994: the full-circle, sleeveless wool cloak with a single neck fastening that Venetian men wore in the 1700s, as painted by Longhi, Tiepolo and Canaletto. Venetians still wear one in the fog of November; she also makes straw boaters and historic hats.
