A square of the old town inside the walls of the Roman legionary camp. Duke Heinrich II Jasomirgott built the Babenberg residence (Pfalz) here after moving his seat from Regensburg in the 1150s; it stayed the ducal residence until about 1280. The 14th-century Kirche Am Hof (Church of the Nine Choirs of Angels) and the Mariensäule mark the square today.
