The vast parade ground of the Hofburg, laid out after Napoleon's troops blew up the Burgbastei bastion in 1809. It is named after the two generals whose equestrian statues stand on it, Prince Eugene and Archduke Charles, and was meant to be part of an Imperial Forum linking the Hofburg with the court museums across the Ring that was never finished.
