Vienna's most famous outdoor staircase, Jugendstil curves, green railings and lanterns by Theodor Jaeger, opened in November 1910. Heimito von Doderer named his 1951 novel 'Die Strudlhofstiege' after it, one of the main works of 20th-century Austrian literature.
