The first church in Amsterdam built for Protestant worship (1603-1611), designed by Hendrick de Keyser, who is buried inside. Its tower, finished in 1614, dominates the Nieuwmarkt quarter; it played a part in Rembrandt's life and Claude Monet painted it.
