Opened in 1954 inside the Soviet-designed Beijing Exhibition Center, "Lao Mo" was the capital's first foreign restaurant and is a Beijing time-honoured brand. Under its soaring ceilings order borscht, beef baked in a clay pot, cream of mushroom soup, baked fish in cream and a glass of kvass.
